How does Light Energy work?
When properly absorbed, specific wavelengths of light energy up-regulate compromised cells. The light (photons) energy is absorbed by photoreceptors in the mitochondria and used to create adenosine triphosphate (ATP). How does light therapy affect pain and inflammation?
Poor circulation and the lack of oxygen and other essential molecules (i.e., glucose, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)) in blood vessels can cause pain or a lack of sensation. Macrophages exposed to red light therapy release cytokines (over 100 proteins produced by white blood cells that signal immune response to inflammation) that stimulate the production of growth factors influencing the inflammatory process, healing, and wound repair.
Do LED treatment increase serum penetration?
Your skin is the most miraculous “bio-barrier ever designed. It’s meant to keep things out. We have not seen any rigorous clinical studies that prove there is a synergistic effect between LED treatment and serum penetration. The molecules in topically applied products are just too big to be “driven” deeper into the tissue. We do however know that the serums being sold by other light therapy companies can block light penetration by 30 – 100%, curtailing the therapeutic benefit of the light therapy. When you consider that topical treatments are intended to affect only the first couple millimeters of the skin and light therapy penetrate as deep as 25mm below the surface of the skin, down into the subcutaneous tissue, why would you ever put something on the skin that would diminish the impact of the light therapy. For this reason, we always recommend that light treatments be done on clear, dry, bare skin and the application of products should follow.
How does light therapy affect skin hydration?
The wavelengths have a direct positive influence on the fibroblasts. This stimulation will increase the demand for natural hyaluronic acid (HA). This increase in natural HA will increase hydration, as the HA attracts 20 times its body weight in water, resulting in more hydration.

what is Microblading?
‘Microblading is a type of eyebrow architecture. It is all about creating the best shape for each face – a totally bespoke approach for each client,’ explains Jalaf.
‘The process is very precise thanks to the tool that is used which is effectively like a pen with the nib being a sloped blade with 10-12 little needles at the end – needles that don’t penetrate the skin but just delicately scratch the surface, much like a paper cut.
‘The needle very finely implants featherweight strokes with a medical grade pigment on the epidermis layer for the skin, creating fine, realistic and natural hair strokes.’
Does the Procedure hurt?
‘It doesn’t hurt as such, it is more a sensation. The process itself is not painful thanks to the numbing ointment that is applied. It’s sometimes the sound of the blade which people find worse – a small scratching sound.
‘The whole process is very quick – it’s actually the numbing which takes most of the time (50mins), you aren’t under the needle for the whole 2 hours.’
How is permanent makeup different
to having your brows tattooed?
‘Permanent Makeup, unlike tattooing, is not in the deep layer of skin, but more on the surface. This is also not permanent, and the color fades within 18 months. Permanent Makeup is far more natural and finer than any tattoo, as a handheld needle/blade is used – there is no electrical gadget that permeates deep in this technique. There is therefore more of a scratching noise, rather than a buzz of a tattoo gun which pierces the skin so deeply.’
How long does lip blushing last?
Typically, lip blushing lasts between two to three years and will gradually lighten and fade over time, until your lips slowly return to their natural hue. So your lips will look far lighter after two years than they will after six months, which is why many tattoo artists recommend yearly refresh sessions to prolong the lip shade you want.
